# Ratings, Status, and Notes

> How to rate items, track what you've read or watched, and add personal notes to anything in your library.

Every item in your library has three ways to capture your relationship with it: a status, a rating, and notes. Open any item's detail page to see and edit them.

## Status

Status tracks where you are with an item. Tap the status badge on the detail page to change it. Options vary by media type:

| Media type | Statuses |
|---|---|
| Books | Unread, Reading, Read |
| Movies | Unwatched, Watched |
| TV Shows | Not Started, Watching, Watched |
| Albums | Unlistened, Listening, Listened |
| Anime | Not Started, Watching, Watched |

Your library view lets you filter by status, so you can quickly see everything you're currently reading, your unread backlog, or all your watched movies.

## Ratings

Open an item's detail page and tap the star rating to set it. Ratings are on a 1–5 scale. Tap the same star to remove a rating.

Ratings are one of the clearest signals available for recommendations. You don't need to rate everything — even rating the things you feel strongly about helps.

Once you've built up some ratings, you can filter your library by star rating to find your best-loved items or revisit things you were lukewarm on.

## Notes

Open the item's detail page and tap the notes field to add or edit a note. There's no format requirement — a few words or several paragraphs both work.

Things people put in notes:

- When and where they read or watched something
- Who recommended it
- A quote or line that stuck
- Their reaction at the time
- Context that makes it personally meaningful

Notes are private and only visible to you.

## Updating via the Librarian

If it's faster, you can update status, ratings, and notes through the librarian in conversation rather than navigating to each item's detail page:

> "Mark Dune as currently reading"
> "Rate OK Computer 5 stars"
> "Add a note to No Country for Old Men: watched this twice on the same day"

The librarian can also help you find and review items based on these fields:

> "What have I rated 5 stars?"
> "Show me my 3-star books"
> "What's in my unread backlog?"
