# Tracking Your Progress

> Log started and finished dates, track episodes for TV shows and anime, and see a timeline of what you've read and watched.

---

The detail page for books, TV shows, anime, and podcasts includes a tracking panel where you can log dates, episode progress, and more. Open any item and scroll to the tracking section to find these fields.

## Started and Finished Dates

Books, TV shows, anime, and podcasts all have **Started** and **Finished** date fields. Tap either field to open a date picker and select the date. The date saves immediately — there's no save button.

A few things to know:

- You can set either date on its own. A finished date without a started date is fine.
- The finished date can't be earlier than the started date.
- Dates can't be set in the future.

Once you've logged dates across your collection, your librarian can answer questions like "what did I read in 2024?" or "what was I watching last winter?" — but the dates are yours to enter and own.

## Episode Progress (TV Shows and Anime)

The tracking panel for TV shows and anime includes fields for **current season**, **current episode**, and **total episodes**. Tap any field, type the number, and press enter or tab away — it saves automatically.

Season and episode save independently, so you can fill in just one if that's all you know.

## Rewatches and Rereads

If you've watched a film or read a book more than once, you can log additional viewings using the **Log event** option on the detail page. Each rewatch or reread gets its own date entry and appears in the item's timeline.

## Viewing Your Timeline

On any item's detail page, scroll down to see its timeline — a chronological record of when you read, watched, or listened to it, including any rewatches or rereads.

## The Librarian as a Shortcut

If you'd rather update progress through conversation than navigate to each detail page, the librarian can handle it:

> "I'm on season 3, episode 7 of The Bear"
> "I finished Middlemarch last Tuesday"
> "Mark The Power Broker as started today"

And once your dates are in, you can ask questions about your history:

> "What did I finish this year?"
> "How long did it take me to read that?"
> "What am I currently in the middle of?"
