Achriom is a personal media library app with an AI librarian assistant. You can catalog and explore your books, movies, albums, and TV shows. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data we collect and how we use it.
Information We Collect
Account Information
- Sign In: When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your user identifier and, optionally, your email address if you choose to share it.
- Subscription Status: We track your subscription status to provide access to premium features.
Library Data
We collect information about media you add to your library:
- Books: Titles, authors, ISBNs, cover images, genres, page counts, reading status, ratings, notes, and uploaded book content (EPUBs/PDFs for semantic search).
- Movies: Titles, directors, cast, posters, genres, release dates, watch status, ratings, and notes.
- Albums: Titles, artists, cover art, genres, release dates, track listings, listen status, ratings, and notes.
- TV Shows: Titles, creators, cast, posters, genres, seasons/episodes, watch status, ratings, and notes.
AI Conversations
- Chat History: Conversations with the AI librarian are stored to provide context and enable follow-up conversations.
- Usage Metrics: We track conversation counts for free tier limitations.
Photos and Scans
- Shelf Scans: When you scan bookshelves, DVD collections, or record shelves, photos are processed to extract titles but are not permanently stored after processing.
How We Use Your Information
- To provide and maintain your personal media library across all device sessions
- To power the AI librarian with knowledge of your collection for personalized conversations
- To extract titles from photos using optical character recognition
- To enrich your library with metadata (covers, summaries, genres, themes)
- To enable semantic search within uploaded book content
- To manage subscription status and enforce tier limitations
AI Processing
Achriom uses artificial intelligence to provide its core features. Here's how AI processes your data:
AI Librarian (Anthropic Claude)
Your conversations with the AI librarian and relevant library data are sent to Anthropic's Claude API to generate responses. Claude may access your library catalog to answer questions about your collection.
Content Analysis (OpenAI)
We use OpenAI's services for:
- Extracting titles from shelf photos (image recognition)
- Generating thematic analysis and summaries for library items
- Creating embeddings for semantic book content search
AI Data Retention
Anthropic and OpenAI process data according to their respective privacy policies. We do not use your data to train AI models.

Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely on our servers with the following protections:
- Encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all data transmission
- Secure authentication via Apple Sign In or Google Sign In
- Database encryption at rest
- Regular security updates and monitoring
Data Retention
- Library Data: Retained as long as you maintain an active account
- Chat History: Retained for conversation continuity; you can delete individual conversations
- Uploaded Books: Stored until you remove them; original files kept for future e-reader features
- Photos: Processed for text extraction and immediately discarded
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Export your library data
- Delete individual items, conversations, or uploaded content
- Request complete deletion of your account and all associated data
Children's Privacy
Achriom is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us immediately.
International Users
Your data is stored and processed in the United States. By using Achriom, you consent to the transfer of your data to the United States.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by updating the "Last updated" date on this page.
