How to Export Your IMDb Ratings and Watchlist (and Where to Take Them)
Where the IMDb export icon is, what the CSV holds, and how to import your ratings and watchlist into Achriom or Letterboxd.

To export your IMDb ratings, open Your Ratings from your IMDb profile and click the Export icon in the top right. IMDb saves a .csv file. Your watchlist works the same way: open it, then click Export.
Moving to Achriom? Upload the CSV and your ratings and watchlist come over. Films, series and games are all read from the same file, and free accounts have no item limit.

How to export your IMDb ratings
- Sign in at imdb.com.
- Open your IMDb user profile and go to Your Ratings.
- Click the Export icon in the top right.
- Save the .csv file somewhere you’ll find it again.
IMDb’s ratings help page describes it in those two steps and says the file is one “you can save and adjust as you wish.” It doesn’t say how large the export can get or how often you can run it.
How to export your watchlist
Your watchlist is a list, so it exports the way any IMDb list does. IMDb’s lists help page says to open the list and select the Export icon from the top right.
- Open your Watchlist on IMDb.
- Click the Export icon in the top right.
- Save the .csv file.
The same page says watchlists, lists and check-ins can hold at most 12,000 items each, and that each user is limited to 999 lists. If you keep custom lists on IMDb, each one exports from its own page.
What’s in the CSV
| What you get | Detail |
|---|---|
| Format | A .csv file, one row per title |
| Identifier | The IMDb ID for each title, which is what makes a clean match elsewhere |
| Ratings file | Your rating on IMDb’s 1 to 10 scale, the date you rated it, plus title, type, year, genres and directors |
| Watchlist file | The same title details, with your position in the list and when you added it, but no rating |
IMDb’s help pages don’t spell out the columns, so that list comes from reading the files Achriom’s importer expects: Const (the IMDb ID), Your Rating, Date Rated, Title, Title Type, Year, Genres and Directors, with Position and Created on the watchlist. Open your own file in a spreadsheet before you upload it and you’ll see exactly what IMDb holds on you.
Two things to know before you move it. Ratings are IMDb’s whole numbers from 1 to 10, so a tracker with half-star ratings has to translate them. And the file covers what you rated or saved, not reviews you wrote on IMDb.
Where to take the file
Import it into Achriom
Achriom’s import dialog has an IMDb option that takes either file. Upload your ratings CSV, your watchlist CSV, or both, and each title is matched by its IMDb ID rather than by name, so a remake or a same-name show doesn’t land as the wrong one.
Ratings convert at half the IMDb number, so a 9 becomes 4.5 stars and a 7 becomes 3.5. A rated title arrives as watched. A watchlist title with no rating arrives as to watch. Say you gave Arrival (2016) an 8 and kept Parasite (2019) on your watchlist. Arrival lands on your shelf at four stars, and Parasite waits under to watch.

Films and series come over, and so do games that appear in your file. Games have no IMDb ID to match on, so Achriom looks them up by exact name and release year and leaves out any it can’t match with confidence. Episodes and podcasts in your ratings aren’t kept. When the import finishes it tells you how many films, series and games it added and how many it couldn’t find.
If you rate something differently in Achriom later and import the file again, your Achriom rating stays. Ten titles in, it builds your Taste Portrait.
The export is the part IMDb makes you do. The import takes it from here.
Bring my IMDb ratings over →This is a file upload, not a live link, so run the export again when you want to bring over new ratings. Your shelf can also go back out. Achriom exports your whole library as a CSV, free.
Import it into Letterboxd
If you only track films, Letterboxd is the other obvious place for the file. Its import page lists IMDb export files (CSV) as accepted and sends you to its migration guide for the details. Two limits on that page are worth knowing. The file can’t be bigger than 1MB, so a long ratings history may need splitting into parts that each keep the header row. And there’s no undo once you confirm the import. Its review step lets you remove entries that matched wrongly, such as TV shows matched to similarly named films, so read it before you confirm. Our Letterboxd alternatives guide and the Letterboxd vs IMDb comparison cover how the two differ.
Keep it as a backup
Your ratings live on IMDb’s site, and the CSV is the copy you hold yourself. Save it next to your other backups, and run the export again after a big stretch of rating.
If you track more than films
Achriom keeps the films, series and games from your IMDb file next to books, albums, anime, podcasts and manga, so a rating you exported from IMDb sits beside the novel the film came from, and you can ask the librarian about all of it (”80s horror I haven’t watched”). Best Movie Tracking Apps in 2026 compares the options if you want a tracker that does more than a rating list.

Common questions
How do I export my IMDb ratings?
Open Your Ratings from your IMDb profile and click the Export icon in the top right. IMDb saves a .csv file.
Can I export my IMDb watchlist?
Yes. Your watchlist is a list, so open it and click the Export icon in the top right, the same way you export any IMDb list.
Can I import my IMDb ratings into another app?
Yes. Achriom takes your IMDb ratings or watchlist CSV and imports films, series and games, and Letterboxd accepts IMDb export files too.
Does the IMDb export include my reviews?
IMDb’s help pages describe the export as your ratings history or your list, and don’t mention reviews, so don’t count on them being in the file.
